National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS)
Description:
NOAA NESDIS mission is to provide and ensure timely
access to global environmental data from satellites and other sources
to promote, protect, and enhance the Nationís economy, security,
environment, and quality of life. To fulfill its responsibilities
NESDIS acquires and manages the Nation's operational environmental
satellites, provides data and information services, and conducts
related research. Their website provides links to
their programs and resources. Resources include the NOAA
photograph and image collection, which contains over 10,000 digitized
images to help those interested in studying our natural world learn
more about our oceans, the atmosphere, and the history of the
pioneers who began the study of our environment in the United States.
NOAA in Space - features over 300 images depicting the history of
NOAA's satellite. The Natural History of
Useful Aquatic Animals - is an atlas of about 300 illustrations
dating from the late 1800's added to the Historic Fisheries
