Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)
Description:
The IPCC was established by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) in 1988, to assess scientific information about climate change relevant for international and national policy formulation. The IPCC produced its first full assessment report in 1990, a supplementary report in 1992, and a special report on radiative forcing of climate in 1994. Most recently, at the request of governments participating in the negotiations on the implementation of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the IPCC has completed its Second Assessment Report. IPCC reports are published commercially and are available from publishers or leading book shops. Summaries for Policymakers of IPCC reports are available to download from the IPCC website.
