El Niņo/La Niņa 1997 - 1999
Description:
About 30 images of global sea surface temperatures from TOPEX/Poseidon satellite show how the volume of displaced warm
surface water in the eastern tropical Pacific has changed through
time. Colors show sea level height relative to average. One can
scroll down to go back in time and see how an unusual mass of water
settled itself off the west coast of the Americas.
