Can El Niņo Make it Rain?

Description:
Students investigate the correlation between El El Niņo and precipitation in different cities around the world. They learn about El Niņo and its effects, then use Internet resources to determine dates of past occurrences of El Niņo; graph the frequency of El Niņo events in geologic history; collect and graph data to correlate El Niņo occurrences with precipitation in various cities; and then compare their findings to other studies on El Niņo.

This investigation is under development. To participate in pilot testing, go to the website for NASA Goddard Earth and Space Science Education Project (GESSEP): http://education.gsfc.nasa.gov/experimental/July61999siteupdate/inv99Project.Site/invhome.html and click on "To Pilot Investigations."
