Bathymetry Website
Description:
TOPEX/Poseidon is the result of a partnership between the
U.S. and France to monitor global ocean circulation, discover the tie between
the oceans and atmosphere, and improve global climate predictions. Every
10 days, the TOPEX/Poseidon satellite measures global sea level. A web
site on bathymetry outlines the role of altimetry in making bathymetric
maps. The site provides links to obtaining bathymetric charts, and to another
web site that explains the methods of deriving this map from ocean altimetry
as well as uses for this type of information.
