About Rivers and Dams
Description:
We are slowly replacing the dam-building era with an era
where sustainable water resource management is the guiding principle. This
web site provides a short history of rivers and explains what dams are
and what they do, the environmental impacts of large dams, why free-flowing
rivers are important, and how to understand watersheds. Also included are
discussions by leaders in the national and global water communities, questions
and answers, links, and a bibliography.
