Students and Teachers Exchanging Data, Information, and Ideas (STEDII)
Location:
Individual States (please identify): Nebraska
Description:
The current STEDII project is a weather based program. Students collect weather-related data on a daily basis for a two week period, three times a year. Data are shared between schools across Nebraska via web pages, and most STEDII schools and staff communicate via E-mail. During the fall Focused Measurement Period (FMP) students learn about the fundamentals of weather, such as temperature, relative humidity, wind and air pressure. In the Winter FMP students use weather data to learn about topography and enhance
their mapping skills. During the Spring FMP students can use weather data to investigate the "greenhouse effect", climate change, or how meteorologist forecast the weather.
