The Global Water Sampling Project

Location:

International

Description:

Students test the quality of their fresh water in the local river, stream, lake, or pond, and team up with others around the world to assess and compare results. Students identify organisms in the water and see if they are present in other, more distant, water sources; assess the quality of water based on physical characteristics, chemical substances, and biological indicators; and look for relationships and trends among the data collected by all project participants. The project is run twice a year, once in the fall and once in the spring.
