Wind Chill!!!!
Description:
Students work with a "cooling station" that consists of a fan, a cardboard piece that blocks the air, a wet towel, and temperature probes for a personal experience of wind chill. They experiment with cooling due to evaporation versus cooling due to
evaporation enhanced by wind. They interpret wind chill charts and
make predictive graphs of temperature curves under different
conditions. They discuss how this phenomenon impacts people living in
polar regions, and suggest measures that can be taken to curtail
those impacts.
