Research and Methodology, Sustainable Seas - Activities for
5-8
Description:
Using online resources, students investigate and write about
techniques of identifying fish species for annual counts, as in the Great
American Fish Count. They map findings from the fish count in Northern
California, then analyze and write about what their maps tell them about
the fish species and their ranges. Next, they familiarize themselves with
the research technology and methodology of the Sustainable Seas Expeditions,
and respond to questions provided. They write imaginary but informed journals
for three days of an expedition. Advanced students compare two deep-sea
exploration vehicles, Alvin and Jason.
