Exploring the Environment
Strangers in Paradise
Description:
ETE encourages students to collaborate to solve real-world problems dealing with modern environmental challenges. For each module students read background information and learn about their situation before they solve a problem. Read teacher pages
before beginning.
In "Strangers in Paradise," students imagine they are
tourists finding their way around the island of Hawaii. They use
measuring tools in the application NIH Image to calculate distances
between sightseeing stops and to make inferences about a volcanic
crater.
