Shake, Rattle, and Fall into the Ocean?

Description:
Students look at current and recent earthquake activity in northern California, and graph the depth of earthquakes to determine whether or not it is possible for a major earthquake to separate California from the rest of the continent. They write a paragraph justifying their decision.
