Investigating Climatic Change Through Anomalies

Description:
Students explore the interpretation and significance of anomalies in climatology. They access data for global temperatures from the NOAA National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) Monthly Temperature Anomalies web site; maps from the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory (LDEO) Climate Data showing anomalies for global sea surface temperature; and maps from the LDEO Climate Data showing anomalies for global precipitation. They study the data for trends.

This investigation is under development. To participate in pilot testing, go to the website for NASA Goddard Earth and Space Science Education Project (GESSEP): http://education.gsfc.nasa.gov/experimental/July61999siteupdate/inv99Project.Site/invhome.html and click on "To Pilot Investigations."
