Hurricane: Storm Science
Description:
A blend of science and human interest pages allow students to explore hurricanes. A "Healing Quilt" page allows students to tell the story of their own experiences in a natural disaster. Other pages show students how to hurricanes work; how to build one's own instruments for measuring the aspects of weather that change when a hurricane is coming; and how to prepare for the arrival of a hurricane at home. Other pages help students to interpret satellite images of hurricanes forming and to track a hurricane across a map. A hotlink is provided to the National Hurricane Center in Miami, Florida, where hurricanes are detected, named, and tracked.
