GOES Knows: Volcanoes
Description:
Students look at two different GOES images, choosing the appropriate image for investigating volcanic activity and its potential impact on the safety of airplane flights. They determine the difference between the visible and infrared channels collected by
the GOES satellite. They learn about other applications to a satellite that was intended for weather.
